Year 5 SEN Teaching Assistant – Brixton Primary School – September Start

Location: Brixton 
Start Date: September 2025 
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only 
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) 
 
About the Role: 

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs 
  • Support the pupil in managing challenging behaviours, emotional regulation, and building positive routines 
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to implement consistent support strategies 
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment 
  • Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies to promote positive engagement 
  • Track and report progress and behavioural developments, contributing to regular review meetings 

 
The Ideal Candidate Will: 

  • Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour, ideally within a school setting 
  • Be confident, calm, and resilient in managing emotional outbursts and behavioural incidents 
  • Be empathetic and passionate about supporting pupils facing social and emotional barriers to learning 
  • Be proactive, reliable, and able to follow personalised behaviour support plans 
  • Work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with staff, families, and external professionals 
  • Have a strong interest in inclusive education, psychology, or behaviour support
