Year 1/2 SEN Teaching Assistant – Brixton Primary School – Immediate Start
Pertemps Education is working in partnership with a warm and inclusive primary school in Brixton to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 within the school’s Additional Resource Provision (ARP).
This is a full-time position available for an immediate start, offering a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including autism and speech and language difficulties.
Location: Brixton
Start Date: September
Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
About the Role:
- Support pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 within the school’s specialist ARP setting
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping children access a personalised curriculum
- Use a range of strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Assist with daily routines and activities in a structured, low-stimulus environment
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and therapists to deliver high-quality SEN provision
- Support with behaviour management plans and contribute to progress reviews
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience supporting pupils with SEN, particularly within Key Stage 1 or early primary years
- Be calm, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children with additional needs
- Have experience or a strong interest in working within a specialist or ARP setting
- Be confident supporting children with autism, speech and language delays, and sensory needs
- Work well as part of a team and demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to inclusive practice
