Teacher of the Deaf – Barnet – January Start 
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teacher of the Deaf to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Barnet. Recognised by Ofsted as “a friendly, caring and welcoming school that pupils enjoy attending,” this school is committed to supporting the unique needs of every child through a specially resourced provision that ensures that deaf pupils access the curriculum successfully. With a strong focus on accessibility, inclusion, and academic excellence, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students with hearing impairments. 
 
Pay: £170.00-£250.00 per day + SEN Allowance 
Location: Barnet 
Start date: January 
Interview date: ASAP 
 
Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and tailored lessons to meet the needs of students with hearing impairments. 
  • Use specialised teaching strategies and resources, including British Sign Language (BSL) and assistive technologies, to support learning. 
  • Work closely with students, families, and multi-disciplinary teams to create individualised learning plans. 
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing feedback to support both academic and personal development. 
  • Create an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment where students feel valued and supported. 
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development to enhance teaching practices and stay current with advancements in deaf education. 

 
Qualifications/Skills

  • A recognised teaching qualification and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). 
  • Additional qualification in Deaf Education (e.g., Teacher of the Deaf qualification). 
  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) or a commitment to achieving proficiency. 
  • Experience working with children with hearing impairments, including the use of assistive listening devices. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues. 
  • A commitment to fostering independence and confidence in children with hearing impairments.
