Speech and Language Teaching Assistant – Brixton Primary School – September 
Pertemps Education is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive primary school in Brixton to recruit a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant for a September 2025 start. 
This is a part-time role (3 days per week), ideal for a candidate with a passion for language development, phonics, and supporting pupils with EAL. The role offers a unique opportunity to work 1 day per week alongside Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) specialists, with 2 additional days delivering targeted interventions to pupils across Early Years and Key Stage 1. 
 
Location: Brixton
Start Date: September 2025 
Contract: Part-Time (3 Days), Term-Time Only 
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) 
 
About the Role: 

  • Work closely with Speech and Language specialists one day a week to develop and plan interventions 
  • Deliver targeted speech, language, and communication interventions to identified pupils on the remaining two days 
  • Use structured phonics programmes and language development strategies to support progress 
  • Support pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) in developing vocabulary, comprehension, and communication confidence 
  • Record and monitor pupil progress and report back to the SENCO and SaLT team 
  • Promote an inclusive and language-rich classroom environment 

 
The Ideal Candidate Will: 

  • Have previous experience supporting pupils with speech and language needs or EAL in a primary school setting 
  • Have a strong working knowledge of phonics teaching strategies (e.g. Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds) 
  • Be confident delivering small group and 1:1 interventions 
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic about supporting language development 
  • Work well both independently and collaboratively with professionals and school staff 
  • Be a clear communicator with excellent organisational skills
