We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND school in Wandsworth for a dedicated Sixth Form SEN Teacher to join their exceptional team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with post-16 learners, delivering a personalised curriculum that develops academic achievement, communication, life skills and employability.
The Role As a Sixth Form SEN Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for students aged 16–19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Support students with Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Speech & Language needs and associated communication difficulties.
- Deliver a curriculum focused on functional skills, independence, employability, community participation and preparation for adulthood.
- Develop personalised learning programmes aligned to EHCP outcomes.
- Promote students’ confidence, resilience and social development.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and external agencies.
- Monitor progress and contribute to annual reviews and transition planning.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Minimum of BSL Level 2
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally within a specialist or post-16 setting.
- Excellent understanding of differentiated teaching and personalised learning.
- Passion for supporting young people to achieve independence and positive destinations beyond school.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable
- Experience teaching Functional Skills English, Maths or Employability.
- Knowledge of Preparation for Adulthood (PfA) outcomes.
- Experience supporting students with Autism, SEMH or complex learning needs.
- SEND qualification or specialist training.
