SEN Teaching Assistant – Behaviour Support – Islington

A specialist provision in Islington is seeking a committed individual to provide tailored support to students who require additional guidance in managing their emotions and behaviour. Role Overview:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Behaviour Support)
  • Location: Islington
  • Interview Date: Immediate
  • Contract: Full-Time / Permanent
  • Salary: £102 – £115 per day (dependent on experience)

About You:We are looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who:

  • Has experience working with children with behavioural difficulties, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, or challenging behaviour.
  • Can implement de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies effectively.
  • Is confident in building strong, positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Works well within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
  • Is adaptable, patient, and committed to creating a safe and structured learning environment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with behavioural challenges.
  • Implement behaviour support plans, helping students develop self-regulation and coping strategies.
  • Assist in creating a calm and structured classroom environment where students feel safe and supported.
  • Work closely with teachers and external professionals to tailor interventions and monitor progress.
  • Use positive reinforcement and restorative approaches to encourage engagement and personal development.
