About the Role:
Pertemps Education is working in partnership with a supportive and well-resourced specialist setting in Lewisham, seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teacher to work with KS3–KS4 students. The pupils have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside high levels of anxiety, requiring a calm, structured and nurturing approach to learning.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs
  • Support students in managing anxiety and building emotional resilience
  • Create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques effectively
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leadership
  • Monitor and track student progress, adapting approaches where necessary

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEMH students and/or those with high anxiety levels
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a trauma-informed approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
