We are seeking an experienced and confident SEN HLTA to support pupils with a range of additional needs across our partner primary and specialist SEND schools. This role is ideal for a skilled practitioner who can lead learning, deliver targeted interventions, and work closely with teaching staff to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.
About the Role:
As an SEN HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs including ASD, SEMH, ADHD, global delay, speech & language needs, and physical or sensory difficulties. You will lead small groups, deliver tailored interventions, and occasionally provide whole-class cover where required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide PPA/cover across the school when needed
- Lead targeted SEN interventions (phonics, language development, social skills, emotional regulation, sensory support)
- Work 1:1 with pupils who require personalised support
- Adapt activities and resources to match pupils’ individual learning needs
- Use strategies such as PECs, visuals, Makaton, TEACCH, sensory circuits (where applicable)
- Implement behaviour and support plans in collaboration with teachers and the SENDCo
- Provide accurate feedback on pupil progress and development
- Maintain a calm, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- HLTA qualification or substantial HLTA-level classroom experience
- Strong SEN background, ideally within primary or specialist provisions
- Confident delivering small-group and whole-class learning
- Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
