SEMH Teaching Assistant – South East London
📍 Location: South East London
💷 Pay: £90 – £110 per day (depending on experience)
📅 Start: Immediate / Ongoing
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience or training in mental health and a desire to make a real impact in education?
We are working with schools in South East London who are seeking dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their supportive teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in mental health, youth work, or special educational needs who wants to help students reach their full potential.
The Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Help pupils develop coping strategies, resilience and positive behaviours.
  • Support classroom learning alongside the teacher.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or behaviour needs.
  • Training or qualifications in mental health (e.g. Mental Health First Aid, counselling, psychology background).
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours positively.
