π About the School
An independent specialist day school supporting students aged 11β16 who have experienced difficulties in mainstream settings. Pupils present with specific learning difficulties and more complex communication and interaction needs, including autism spectrum conditions.
The school maintains high expectations for every learner, delivering highly personalised education and therapeutic support aligned with each studentβs Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Their mission is to equip young people with the academic, emotional and practical skills needed to lead independent, fulfilling adult lives.
You will be joining a nurturing, inclusive and highly collaborative environment, working alongside a skilled multi-disciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapists (SALTs), Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists and specialist teachers.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or aspiring practitioner looking to build experience toward a career in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy or SEN education.
π§© Role and Responsibilities
π¬ Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group communication and learning interventions
π§ Use autism-friendly strategies including visual supports, PECS, Makaton and social stories
π€ Work closely with SALTs, teachers and pastoral staff to embed therapeutic approaches
π Support studentsβ emotional regulation, confidence and independence
π Monitor and report on student progress and wellbeing
π‘οΈ Uphold safeguarding, inclusion and positive behaviour standards
π― Candidate Requirements
π Degree in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Sciences, Education or Child Development (or working towards)
β€οΈ Genuine interest in autism, communication and complex SEN
π£οΈ Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
ποΈ Patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient
π Able to travel to Quidenham / Norfolk area
β Previous SEN or youth work experience desirable but not essential
