A highly regarded specialist SEN school in Maidenhead is seeking a Psychology & Speech and Language Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. The school supports children and young people aged 4โ€“19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

You will work in a nurturing, inclusive, and collaborative environment with a multi-disciplinary team, including Speech and Language Therapists (SALTs), Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, and specialist teachers.

๐Ÿงฉ Role and Responsibilities

  • ๐Ÿ’ฌ Deliver one-to-one and small-group communication interventions to support childrenโ€™s speech, language, and social skills
  • ๐Ÿง  Use autism-friendly strategies, including visual aids, PECS, Makaton, and social stories
  • ๐Ÿค Collaborate with SALTs, teachers, and support staff to embed therapeutic approaches across lessons
  • ๐ŸŒˆ Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and emotional regulation
  • ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing standards

  • ๐ŸŽ“ Degree in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Sciences, Education, or Child Development
  • โค๏ธ Genuine interest in communication, autism, and special educational needs
  • ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Patient, empathetic, and proactive
  • ๐Ÿš— Able to travel to Maidenhead
