Are you a passionate and resilient SEN Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking an experienced teacher to join a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Croydon area, teaching core subjects (English, Maths, and Science) to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or have been excluded from mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across core subjects at KS3–KS4 level.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual learning and behavioural needs.
- Use creative approaches to re-engage pupils and foster a positive attitude toward learning.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies and support emotional regulation.
- Work closely with support staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to ensure student progress and wellbeing.
- Track and assess pupil progress, providing feedback and encouragement.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS).
- Experience teaching students with SEMH or challenging behaviour, ideally in a PRU or alternative provision.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach with excellent communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
