About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Streatham seeking a motivated Education, Psychology & Child Development Learning Support Assistant. This role is ideal for individuals with a background or strong interest in education, psychology, or child development who are passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team to support pupils who may require additional guidance with learning, emotional regulation, communication, or social development. The role involves supporting children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them build confidence and successfully engage with the curriculum.

This position provides excellent hands-on experience for those considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, therapy, or child development professions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils requiring additional learning assistance
  • Support children with SEN, including Autism, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties
  • Assist in delivering structured learning activities to improve literacy, numeracy, and cognitive development
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised learning strategies and EHCP targets
  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom, including during structured interventions

The Ideal Candidate

  • A background or strong interest in Education, Psychology, Child Development, or related fields
  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, tutoring, mentoring, or youth work
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential
