Location: Lambeth, South London
Pay: £108.35 per day
Start Date: ASAP / September Start
Contract: Full-time | Long-term

Are you a qualified British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to support deaf and hearing-impaired pupils in a welcoming primary school?

Our education recruitment agency is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Lambeth to recruit a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring pupils can fully access learning and participate confidently in all aspects of school life.

  • Provide 1:1 and classroom support for pupils who are deaf or have hearing impairments.
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate effective communication between pupils, teachers and peers.
  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their individual learning targets.
  • Adapt learning materials and reinforce classroom teaching where appropriate.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social inclusion.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, Teachers of the Deaf and external professionals.
  • Promote an inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

The Ideal Candidate

  • BSL qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 minimum preferred).
  • Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired children in an educational or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • A commitment to supporting inclusion and equal access to education.
  • Previous Teaching Assistant experience is desirable but not essential.
