SEN Teaching Assistant – All Boys Alternative Provision Location: South East London
Start Date: ASAP / Ongoing
Contract: Full-time, term-time
We are recruiting a resilient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join an all-boys Alternative Provision supporting pupils aged KS2–KS4 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
The setting supports students with SEMH, behavioural needs, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours and complex social backgrounds, offering structured routines, high staff ratios and strong pastoral support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Support emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist with de-escalation and restorative approaches
- Build strong, consistent relationships with challenging and disengaged learners
- Support learning across core and vocational subjects
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies
Requirements:
- Experience working with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- Background in alternative provision, PRU, SEN, youth work or mentoring preferred
- Calm, consistent and resilient approach
- Strong behaviour management and safeguarding awareness
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
