SEN Teaching Assistant – Lewisham – Immediate Start

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Lewisham
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, Term-time Only
Salary: £105–£120 per day (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? A specialist school in Lewisham is looking for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

About the School:

This well-regarded Lewisham-based school caters to children and young people aged 4 to 19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex needs. The school is purpose-built with modern facilities and a strong emphasis on communication, emotional regulation, and life skills. Staff work closely with therapists, behaviour specialists, and families to provide a nurturing and structured environment that enables every student to reach their full potential.

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with autism and associated needs in both 1:1 and small group settings
  • Help deliver structured learning activities tailored to each student’s EHCP
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to implement behaviour and communication strategies
  • Provide personal care where necessary (training provided)
  • Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for all learners

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with special educational needs (particularly ASC or complex needs)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A willingness to learn and take direction
  • Relevant qualifications or training (e.g. Team Teach, PECS, Makaton) are desirable but not essential
